About

Oh so you want to know more about me? Seems like you have chosen the right tab. Here is where I will tell you meaningless personal details about myself and if you wish to read about my design career you can read below :)

My name is Abigail Weston. I am originally from Waterville, Maine (a place with very few graphic designers) I have two wonderful parents, an opinionated younger sister and a miniature schnauzer who is guaranteed to melt your heart. Some things that make me a true Mainer; I have attended/thrown forest parties, I have been skiing since I was 5 years old, and I can shuck an entire lobster in under 2 minutes. But as previously mentioned Graphic Designers are not cut out for the cold winters of Maine.

Choosing to flee to the closest city I attended Stonehill College which is just south of Boston. Stonehill was a dream where I met some of my best friends and found out what kind of person I really am. While at Stonehill I was given the tremendous opportunity to study abroad in Berlin, Germany. This experience shaped me in so many powerful ways, it encouraged me to be the self sufficient, unapologetic badass I was meant to be. But like all good things Stonehill came to an end in May 2017. Now I am living in Boston with 3 friends from school and working full time for INS. Pretty much living the dream that my parents envisioned for me oh so long ago. But enough about me keep reading to find out how I found my calling.

My Design Story

You can find a very in-depth version of how I became a designer in my blog. The quick version is that I found that design was a hobby of mine in high school but I never thought it could be a serious major. When I started at Stonehill, I thought political science and communications was my calling but I had a hard time focusing and finding interest in those subjects. I stumbled into a design class my freshman spring and found that I had a talent for designing and you could actually make a career of making things look nice. I know it's way more than that now but then I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

I struggled to grow as a designer until senior year when one professor changed my outlook on design. Everything has a purpose and a piece of paper or a logo means so much more than meets the eye. I worked very hard my senior year to develop a working portfolio which you can find in the Portfolio tab. I was hired in August 2017 at Infusion Nurses Society (INS) as a full time graphic designer. The magic of working for a small company right out of school is that I am in control of everything creative which has given me a huge body of work over that past year. You can find all of my work for INS in the INS work tab. Right now I am trying to get a side freelance career up and running so if you have any inquiries regarding part time work you can Contact me anytime!
